Witches Cradle

by Nejla Yatkin

Official selection

at Inspired Dance Film Festival 2025

I am deeply honored and grateful for the award and selection of Witches Cradle in the official festival lineup. This project holds a special place in my heart, as it pays homage to women, the thread of knowledge we’ve lost, and the ongoing journey to weave the feminine story back together. I want to extend my deepest thanks to the Guggenheim Foundation and 3Arts for their invaluable support, as well as to the Camargo Foundation for providing the space and inspiration during my residency. I am incredibly proud to share this work and the powerful narrative it represents with the world.
Thank you!
Nejla Yatkin

Witches Cradle is a short experimental dance film by Nejla Yatkin, inspired by Maya Deren’s unfinished 1940s film of the same name. Shot across Tahiti, France, and the U.S., the piece explores feminine transformation, nature as sanctuary, and the timeless thread that weaves personal, ancestral, and mythic memory. With music by Marcel Khalife, it’s a haunting, poetic journey into the body as portal and the earth as guide.
