Tea time with Nejla -The Body as Oracle
Saturday, August 1st, 2026The Body as Oracle
I often say I dance and I know things.
An oracle is not only about the future.
It is about access - a kind of knowingness.
A moment when something opens and knowing becomes available.
The body offers this kind of opening.
When I move without agenda when breath, weight, and attention align something shifts.
Thought quiets. Time softens.
I am no longer searching for meaning.
I am inside it.
Movement becomes a portal to enter deeper into the present moment.
The body senses before it decides. Gesture arrives before intention. Rhythm organizes itself.
I don’t feel as though I am making the dance. I feel as though I am listening.
Because the body often reveals what is already known beneath language.
A clarity appears, I don’t mean intellectually but embodied.
Knowing arrives through weight and timing, through temperature, breath, rhythm, pause and so much more.
I don’t ask the body questions. I move, and something responds.
It’s not always answers its often directions, and it is felt more than understood.
Certain movements return as signals asking for attention.
In flow, the body becomes readable, like a landscape showing its weather.
I sense where I am.
What I’m carrying.
What may be ready to shift.
The dance teaches me how to be more fully here.
And sometimes, in that presence, the next step becomes clear.
That is the oracle I trust.
The one that opens now, and now and now
How about you?
What becomes possible for you when the body opens up to the now?
