Free Movement Workshop
Free Movement Workshop Intensive with critically acclaimed choreographer Nejla Yatkin.
Join award-winning choreographer and master teacher Nejla Yatkin to explore the interaction between people, their movement, and the natural environment through this series of unique workshops on six Saturday and Sunday afternoons in August 2019. During each workshop participants will be guided to engage with the environment in new and unexpected ways.
“Everything in life moves. The human body is designed to engage with the environment through movement. Throughout a lifetime of choreographing, teaching, and dancing around the globe, I have learned how beneficial dance is to human development. Dance sharpens the senses, enhances social intelligence, challenges the body and mind and consequently reinvigorates our cognitive, physical and social development. In this workshop we will explore what moves people and how the collective energy inspires people to move.”
Workshop Intensive: Saturdays and Sundays, August 10, 11, 17,18, 24 and 25 2019; 4-6pm
In front of the Lincoln Park Conservancy at North Pond at Lincoln Park, Chicago.
For everyone who wants to experiment with movement, discover new expressive range, and sharpen the senses. Practice painting in space with the body, being more fully present with yourself and others, and performing movement improvisation in public spaces.
