Exploring Transformation Through Movement with Firebird:

In this workshop, participants will explore the theme of transformation through the metaphor of the Firebird/Phoenix, a mythical bird that symbolizes rebirth and renewal. Participants will learn new movement vocabulary inspired by bird-like gestures and shapes, and develop movements through flocking together like birds. Participants will engage in a guided warm-up, focusing on breath, alignment, and fluidity of movement. The warm-up will incorporate bird-like gestures and shapes, such as wings and beaks and flocking. Participants will explore different aspects of transformation through guided improvisation exercises. The instructor will provide prompts and imagery to inspire movement, such as "the shedding of old skin" or "the emergence of new wings. The class will end with a guided cool-down, incorporating movements to stretch and release tension. At the end of class, participants will be encouraged to create their own choreography that they can bring to the Firebird Parade on July 8th 6pm.
